Data Retention & Exports
The exports ReturnMate offers today — RMA list CSV, analytics CSVs and evidence photos — and what happens to your data on redaction or uninstall.
This article covers the exports available in ReturnMate today and how your data is handled over its lifecycle.
Exports available today
RMA list export
On the RMAs page, the Export action downloads a CSV of the returns currently shown in the list — so apply your filters (status, type, location, date range and so on) first. Columns: RMA #, Type (Return/Warranty), Order #, Customer, Email, Status, SLA Status, Items, Created and Updated.
Analytics exports
Each analytics tab has an Export to CSV action that downloads the data behind that report. See the Analytics Guide for what each tab contains and which plans include it.
Evidence photos
Customer-supplied and staff-captured photos on a return can be downloaded individually from the photo gallery on the RMA page — useful for supplier claims or dispute records.
ReturnMate does not currently offer scheduled exports, automated delivery, or a bulk "export everything" tool. If you need a one-off extract beyond the CSV exports above, contact support.
Data lifecycle
Customer privacy requests (GDPR)
When Shopify forwards a customer redaction request, ReturnMate anonymises that customer's personal information on their RMAs while retaining the operational records. This happens automatically through Shopify's mandatory privacy webhooks — see Installing ReturnMate & Your Data and the Security Overview.
Uninstalling
If you uninstall ReturnMate, Shopify later sends a shop-redact request (typically about 48 hours after uninstall) and your store's data is permanently deleted — RMAs, items, shipments, timelines, fault records, warranty resolutions and settings.
After the shop-redact deletion runs, data cannot be recovered. Export what you need — RMA list CSVs, analytics CSVs, evidence photos — before uninstalling. Details in Installing ReturnMate & Your Data.
