A preset tailors a repair module to one trade. It changes the item types, the words on screen, the consents customers sign, and the checklists and service presets you start with. The workflow, stages, estimates and handover stay exactly the same.

PresetBuilt onModule nameThe item is called
Phones & tabletsComputer RepairsPhone & Tablet Repairsdevice
Music storeWalk-in RepairsMusic Store Repairsinstrument
Watch & jewelleryWalk-in RepairsWatch & Jewellery Repairspiece

A store runs one repair module at a time, so you can use one preset at a time.

Choosing or switching a preset

You can pick a preset in the setup wizard, on the business-shape step: Phone & tablet repairs, Music store repairs or Watch & jewellery repairs.

To choose or change it later:

Open the module

Go to Settings → Industry modules and open your repair module. Only store owners and admins can change module settings.

Pick the preset

Under Intake, choose a Vertical preset. Computer Repairs offers a Phones & tablets option. Walk-in Repairs offers Music store and Watch & jewellery options. The Neutral option goes back to the standard pack.

Save

Choose Save settings.

What switching does

  • Item types follow the preset, unless you changed the list. If your Item types offered at intake still match the old preset's defaults, or were never set, they are replaced with the new preset's types. A list you edited yourself is kept.
  • New templates are added. Intake forms, checklists, service presets and consent texts for the new preset are seeded if they are missing.
  • Nothing is removed or overwritten. Templates and consent texts you already have stay as they are, including ones from the previous preset.
  • Open jobs carry on. The workflow does not change.
Reset the item types

If you edited your item types and want the new preset's list, choose Reset to module defaults under Item types offered at intake, then save.

Phone & Tablet Repairs

For phones, tablets, smartwatches, earbuds and consoles: screens, batteries, ports, back glass, cameras, board-level work and software.

Item types: Phone, Tablet, Smartwatch, Earbuds / headphones, Games console / controller, Other.

The preset keeps all of Computer Repairs, including backup declarations, device access and stored device passwords. See Device Passwords and Access.

Activation lock and IMEI

A phone with activation lock or Find My still on can be unusable after a board or screen swap.

  • At the counter, the serial field is labelled IMEI / serial.
  • Tick Activation lock / Find My turned off by the customer once they have turned it off in front of you. Record the Carrier lock as Unlocked, Locked to carrier or Unknown.
  • The counter checklist shows Activation lock confirmed off.
  • If it was not ticked, the job page shows Activation lock not confirmed off while the job is checked in. Confirm it before any board or screen work.

At intake you tick the work you expect to do. Each one needs the customer's consent before Start repairing works.

  • Backup by the shop
  • Data transfer
  • OS reinstall
  • Data erasure
  • Work that may lose data (board-level, no-power)
  • Fit a non-genuine / aftermarket part
  • Opening the device
  • Send to a specialist

The phone-specific consent texts say:

  • Work that may lose data: board-level repair, no-power recovery or a swap on a device that will not boot can lose all data, and the customer is responsible for any backup.
  • Non-genuine or aftermarket part: the device may show a non-genuine part notice, some features may not work as before, and the manufacturer warranty may be affected.
  • Opening the device: opening ends any water or dust resistance rating. The shop fits a new adhesive seal but does not guarantee resistance.

Checklists

TemplateKindNotes
Phone / tablet intakeIntake formIMEI, carrier lock, activation lock (required), passcode arranged, backup declaration, battery health, liquid damage indicator, screen, biometrics and cameras at intake
Phone / tablet diagnosticChecklistScreen and touch, cameras, audio, charging, buttons, radios, biometrics, battery health, board inspection
Phone / tablet QAChecklistBattery health after work, function checks, and handback checks

The QA checklist measures Battery health after work with a target of 80 to 100%. A replacement battery reports 100%. A retained battery must be at least 80%.

Its handback checks include a new adhesive seal fitted with the customer told water resistance is not guaranteed, a non-genuine part warning acknowledged, customer data present with no shop accounts left, and no new marks against the intake photos.

Service presets

Screen replacement, Battery replacement, Charge port replacement, Back glass replacement, Camera replacement, Board-level repair / no power, and Software repair / reset. These sit alongside the Computer Repairs presets.

Music Store Repairs

For guitars, basses, orchestral strings, woodwind, brass, drums, keyboards, amps, pedals and pro audio.

Item types: Electric guitar, Acoustic guitar, Bass guitar, Orchestral string (violin family), Woodwind, Brass, Drums / percussion, Keyboard / piano, Amplifier, Pedal / effects, Pro audio, Other.

Authority for irreversible work

These are jobs that cannot be undone. Each one you tick at intake needs the owner's authority before bench work starts:

  • Refret — original frets removed
  • Replace the nut or saddle
  • Neck reset or brace work
  • Finish touch-up or refinish
  • Solder on original wiring
  • Send to a specialist

Ticking any of the first five also asks what happens to the removed original parts. See Removed original parts below.

Checklists and setup measurements

The music preset adds intake forms for orchestral strings, woodwind and brass, drums and percussion, and keyboards and pianos. It adds service checklists for orchestral string setup, woodwind and brass, and keyboards and pianos. The standard Walk-in Repairs pack is seeded too, including Stringed instrument intake, Amplifier / audio intake, Instrument setup and Amplifier service.

The Instrument setup checklist records setup measurements against these targets:

MeasurementTarget
Neck relief at the 8th fret0.2 to 0.3 mm
Action, treble E at the 12th1.5 to 1.8 mm
Action, bass E at the 12th1.9 to 2.2 mm
Nut slot height, 1st fret0.3 to 0.4 mm
Intonation, worst string at the 12th−3 to 3 cents

A measurement outside its target fails the item, and the run cannot pass until it is back in spec. The play test section includes Original parts bagged and labelled and Finish and binding unmarked against intake photos.

Service presets

Restring, Full setup, Fret level and crown, Pickup / electronics repair, Orchestral string setup, Bow rehair, Play-condition service, Repad / overhaul, Amplifier service, Keyboard / piano service, and Rehead and tune.

Watch & Jewellery Repairs

For watches, clocks, rings, chains, bracelets, earrings and settings.

Item types: Watch, Pocket watch, Clock, Ring, Necklace / chain, Bracelet / bangle, Earrings, Brooch / pendant, Cufflinks, Other.

Authority for irreversible work

  • Resize — metal removed or added
  • Stone setting or tightening
  • Solder or laser work near stones
  • Polish or refinish
  • Plating (rhodium, gold)
  • Engraving
  • Open the watch case
  • Send to a specialist

Resizing, stone work, polishing, plating and engraving also ask what happens to removed metal, stones and parts.

The consent texts cover the risks in plain words. For example, heat-sensitive stones are removed or protected where possible, polishing softens engraving and fine detail, and the customer confirms the spelling of engraving.

Stones

Count and photograph every stone before anything is touched.

  • The Jewellery intake form asks for the Number of stones, confirms all stones are secure under a loupe, notes chipped, loose or missing stones, and takes close-up photos of every setting.
  • The Jewellery final inspection asks for the Number of stones (must match intake). Compare the two counts yourself before the piece goes back.
  • On high-value pieces, the job page asks you to photograph every stone before you touch it.

Water resistance

  • The Watch / clock intake form records the water-resistance marking and has a check that the customer was told opening the case ends the water-resistance guarantee until the watch is pressure-tested.
  • The Opening the watch case consent says the same.
  • The Watch service check includes gaskets replaced, a pressure test to the rated depth, and the caseback torqued.

Measurements

ChecklistMeasurementTarget
Watch service checkRate, dial up−10 to 15 s/day
Watch service checkAmplitude250 to 310°
Watch service checkBeat error0 to 0.5 ms

Jewellery final inspectionShank thickness at the thinnest point1.2 to 5 mm
Jewellery final inspectionRing size after workRecorded, no target

Below 1.2 mm, the shank needs rebuilding, not just resizing.

Pick the trade checklist

Watches and jewellery match both the trade checklist and General QA. When you start a final inspection, choose Watch service check or Jewellery final inspection in the Template list.

Service presets

Battery replacement, Full movement service, Ring resize, Stone tightening / setting, Chain or clasp repair, Polish and clean, Rhodium plating, and Engraving.

Declared value and manager sign-off

Every repair module can record a declared value: the owner's valuation of the item. It is most useful for instruments, watches and jewellery, where the counter checklist always asks for it.

Set the threshold under Manager sign-off above (declared value) in the module settings. The default is 2000. Set it to 0 to never ask.

When the declared value is at or above the threshold:

  • At intake, a manager can tick the sign-off on the spot.
  • On the job page, the item is flagged High-value with a reminder to photograph it before you touch it, and Value & custody shows Needs manager sign-off.
  • A store owner or admin chooses Sign off as manager. The sign-off is audited.

Changing the declared value later clears the sign-off, so it has to be signed off again.

Removed original parts

When irreversible work is planned, the counter records what happens to the parts that come off. This is decided at intake and printed on the receipt:

  • Return to the owner
  • Shop retains
  • Dispose

If the owner wants them back:

  1. At QA, the job page shows Original parts not yet bagged. Bag and label them with the job number, then choose Bag original parts.
  2. At handover, tick Original parts handed over. The handover cannot complete without it once the parts are bagged.

See Collection and Handover.
