Print Clients & Labels
Set up label printers and print clients for direct thermal printing of shipping labels and device tags.
Print Clients connect your label printers directly to ReturnMate for automatic label printing. Configure under Settings > Print Clients and Settings > Labels & Device Tags.
Print Client Setup
The ReturnMate Print Client is a Windows desktop app that connects to your thermal printers.
Download the App
Download the ReturnMate Print Client for Windows 10+.
Generate Pairing Code
In Settings > Print Clients, click Add Print Client and enter a name (e.g. "Warehouse Bay 1"). A pairing code is generated, valid for 10 minutes.
Pair the Client
Enter the pairing code in the desktop app. The client will connect and show as Active.
Configure Printers
In the desktop app, select which connected printer handles each carrier and label type.
Transport Modes
| Mode | Description |
|---|---|
| POLL (recommended) | Checks for new print jobs every 3 seconds |
| SSE | Server-Sent Events — pushes jobs instantly, requires persistent connection |
Print Client Status
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| Active | Connected and ready to print |
| Disconnected | Client not currently connected |
| Pending | Awaiting pairing |
| Revoked | Access has been revoked |
Label Settings
Configure default label formats under Settings > Labels & Device Tags.
- Default Label Size: Choose from standard sizes (4x6, 100x150mm, etc.)
- Affects ZPL format generated for thermal printers
Supported Printers
- Zebra thermal printers (GK420d, ZD420, ZD620, etc.)
- Dymo LabelWriter printers (450, 550, etc.)
- Any ZPL-compatible printer
Labels can also be downloaded as PDF or printed via the browser for non-thermal setups.
